Always Stay Healthy; Quick Simple Tips

We have all heard it before. Eat right. Exercise. Get plenty of sleep. Sometimes our hectic work and lifestyle does not allow us to balance all three on a daily basis, but I have singled out a few habits which should be put into your daily lifestyle to maintain a wonderful, healthy you.

Drink (8) Glasses of Water Everyday- Water boosts your metabolism and keeps your organs running smoothly. Use your thirst as a guide for when and how much to drink says, Holly Phillips, MD, a women's health specialist. You should not worry if you have gone a whole day without drinking much. You most likely quenched your thirst through foods with high water content. Some high water foods are soups, pasta, rice, fruits, and vegetables.

Work Out for (1) Hour Daily- A study out this year suggests women must do 60 minutes of exercise daily to keep from balooning as they age. There is no need to be boggled by this eact time. Study shows 30 minutes will keep your average body frame fit. As long as you get a 30 minute cardio workoutfour times a week, you should stay in shape.

Wearing Heels will Deform Feet by 40- As much as we emphasize comfort here at Sergi Shoes, we still like to be able to wear and see our customers look great with their heels on. We recommend switching up from heels to flats or sandals after the work day. The fit of the shoe is what will determine how heels effect your feet. Boston podiatrist, Jordana Szpiro comments "Just a half -size in the length and width can lead to blisters, bunions, calluses, foot and leg pain." Not wearing the right size makes your feet form to the too-small space and creating skin rub or frction. If you wear tight shoes, all of your weight is shifted to the balls and toes of your feet. Your weight should be evenly distributed between the balls and heels. Mke sure you can wiggle your toes comfortably when you are standing up and feet have slid forward a bit. Make sure your sides don't feel pinched.

You Need Tons of Fruits and Veggies- It is easier to consume 4-1/2 cups of fruits and vegetables. a small apple, 8 strawberries, or 12 baby carrots count as 1 cup. An entree salad or bowl of veggie based soup can be counted as 2 cups or more.

10 Extra Pounds can Cause Health Problems- Carrying up to 10 extra pounds won't substantially increase your chances of diabetes, heart problems, cnacer, or any other condition," says Steven Nissen, MD, chairman of the department of cardiovascular medicine at the Cleveland Clinic. As this number rises past 10 pounds , there will be the chance of health complications. The extra weight we are talk about is the wait centered near your belly. These are fat cells that surround vital organs and lead to health problems. The fat cells above your hips can lead to heart issues. Want to check your ideal weight for your height, use this equation to see what your weight should be. (5 x height in inches above 5 feet + 100 =____)

Not Rested Without (8) Hours of Sleep per Night- "Plenty of people feel reasonably rested after six or seven hours, while others may need eight one day after being more active than usual yet require less the next," says Thomas Balkin, PhD, chairman of the National Sleep Foundation's board of directors. There is no universal number that applies to everyone everyday. Listen to your body and figure out the sleep it needs. making yourself try to fall asleep my lead to stress, anxiety, and ultimately, a poor nights rest.

Honoring Elizabeth Taylor Fashion

In honor of the late Elizabeth Taylor, we have created a pictorial of the fashion that Ms. Taylor gave to us as a Hollywood A-lister. She demonstrates a sense of elegance, sophistication, and grace which drew men to her and made Hollywood want her for her. She inspired future generations to dress how you feel and be who you want to be. Thank you for all the memories Liz Taylor.

Women May Pass Men in Job Force

The recession has effected primarily men in the longest recession in the US. It is not gender, but the industries that have taken a hit in the recession in terms of layoffs and downsizing branches. Here are the reasons for the surge in women in the workforce.

Manufacturing and Construction went under

The majority of men, that is 82 percent of the job losses came from industries in manufacturing and construction. Women are primarily in industries that are not as affected such as education and healthcare.

Concentration of job losses among men

"Women represented a high proportion of the labor force in the beginning of this recession, women are now bearing the burden or the opportunity of being breadwinners," says Heather Boushey, a senior economist at the Center for American Progress.

Deep, Prolonged Recessions

When you have a recession which brings no opportunties for the job losses it took, it will give women the opportunity to become bread winners and perhaps leave the role of caregivers. The possibility of long standing gender roles. In recessions, the percentage of families supported by women tends to rise slightly.

For a limited time

Women may find themselves safer in their jobs, but end up finding it hard to support a family. Women work fewer overall hours than men. Jobs women take are primarily part time jobs with no health insurance or unemployment insurance. According to government data, women earn 80 cents for each dollar a males income. "The jobs women have and are supporting their families with are not necessarily as good as the union jobs men used to have with great healthcare plans," says Christine Owens.

Women who partake a job with a husband who has lost his job will end up accepting both roles of work and household. Women may appear to be sole breadwinners, but will remain responsible for domestic responsibilites. According to data by the American Time Use Survey, employed women devote more time to child care and housework than employed men do. When women are looking for a job, the time women spend taking care of children nearly doubles. Unemployed men's child care duties stay the same when their spouses are at work and spend more time sleeping, watching TV, and looking for a job along with other domestic activities. Many of the unemployed men interviewed say they have tried to share the domestic responsibilities, but have not had the time to do more because of the time used to job hunt. History has taught us that the way couples divide household jobs are fairly resistant to change, says Heidi Hartmann president and chief economist at the Institute for Womens Policy Research. "Over a long, 20 year period, married men have stepped up to the plate a little bit, but not as much as married women have dropped off in the time they spend on household chores," Ms. Hartmann says. As declining incomes force families to cut back "women will most likely pick up the slack."

Time to Impress Your Boss

Handling Mistakes

The best way to make up for your mistakes is to fix the problem and quickly move on. Do not CRY! There is an old movie line by actor Tom Hanks where he coached an all women baseball team he said, "THERE'S NO CRYING IN BASEBALL!". He was right because once you cry you show your weakness and you open yourself up to be manhandled by your co-workers. Famous fashion publicist, Kelly Cutrone of the Peoples Revolution has firmly banned crying from her office in NYC. In her latest book, "If You Cry, Go Outside", she candidly describes the notion of crying by keeping it outside the office and let it out to all your friends, but do not disturb or distract herself and the rest of the office who are here to make money and be serious.

I acknowledge her tough, stern actions because in order to be respected in the business world you have to show toughness and your team needs to show that toughness as well. In order for women to acquire equal rights in the workplace they need to start acting like equals. That is absolutely no crying. Ms. Kelly Cutrone adds to this point by saying, "once you enter the workplace, you are surrounded by grown-ups, not friends. Your boss is not your friend nor your therapist. Your boss is a person who is paying you to do a job."

Show Respect No Matter What

Your boss is a human being and he or she deserves respect. You can extend your respect by showing compassion for their stressful work days through providing a treat. Don't be afraid to ask your boss if they would like a cup of coffee or something else to drink if you are on your way to get a drink or lunch. She or he will remember you for your good actions. Unfortunately, lower level employees do not see it this way. They think their boss has made it and has it easy compared to everyone else. If your boss is still working, it is because they have not made it.

Gossip Girl Equals Ticket to Getting Fired

Avoid posting things online about yourself or other people particularly social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook. You have to assume that if you can read someone elses postings they can read yours. Simply, don't do anything outrageously stupid. Young employees today fail to understand that they are not in high school or college anymore and try to set out to re-create their family and college-friend relationships.

The Lesson

The better you are at work and in in your relationships the more successful you will be and feel. Unfortunately with every succes comes enemies adn/or envy amongst certain co-workers. When certain people see you happy and successful, they feel jealous and create disturbed feelings towards you. Beware of these people and those that want to set you up for failure. It is a harsh pill to swallow, but it is important for you to live your life than to be worried on what other people say or think about you.

"Would you be my Valentine": Tips on how to make it an Unforgettable Day!

"Be my, be my little baby", those uttered words are memorable in the Motown music days but we all want a special person to "be our valentine" on Valentines Day. We want someone to remind us how cute love can be amazing all over again through gifts, guilty pleasures, and that song playing in the background from the Disney cartoon "The Lady and the Tramp". So ladies! Cross your fingers and hope that your hubbies have done their homework and are ready to surprise you on this special day. Here are a few tips on how to make the day come naturally and remind your hubbies to NOT go overboard! Forgive us ladies, but we get too excited or nervous, sometimes both!

Our First- It is good to remind yourself of your first time. Your first kiss, first meal, or even first date. Walk down memory lane and dine at the first place of your first date. If the place is far away or nonexistent, dine in get on comfy clothes and make it a movie night.

Have a portrait drawn- An artist can hand paint a duplicate of a photo of your special one. This is a great gift because you made that extra effort to personalize an image of your special one.

Create a gift basket- This is very special because you took the time to think of what favorite things your special person likes and organized them neatly in a basket. It could be anything DVD movies, candy, wine, ornaments, etc.

Time for a Scavnger Hunt- What is a special day without the surprises? Make each other work for your Valentines Day gift. Gather your special ones favorite items from fragrances, novelties, candies, DVD's and hide them at the place you plan to celebrate Valentines Day or simply at home.

--drumrole-- "A day at the Spa" - If your man truly appreciates you and has done his homework, he will present to you admission to a day at the spa. You need it!

Good luck ladies!
Happy Valentines Day to all!
